Tesla has taken the UAE car market by storm since its launch earlier this year. The teaser image that Tesla released for the vehicle leaves it shrouded in mystery. That hasn’t stopped car experts and enthusiasts from guessing the details. 
Compact SUV fans especially will be at the edge of their seats because the Model Y will mark the company’s first foray into that segment. Already, Tesla believes that the Model Y will be a bigger hit than the midsized sedan Model 3. In the UAE market too, Tesla’s compact SUV will have great potential. It’s a good thing then that manufacturing improvements will result in accelerated and cheaper production.
Reports also suggest that the Model Y and Model 3 will share a common platform in addition to other architectural features. This will enable the company to bring the final version to the market much sooner. Taking its cue from the Model 3, it’s also expected to feature a flat, grille-free front end and similar drivetrains. Some expect it to be designed along the same lines as the Model X SUV, down to the ‘falcon-wing’ style doors.
The only thing we know for sure is that there is still a long way to go before the Tesla Model Y will be ready to hit the roads in 2019 or early 2020. Tesla CEO Elon Musk believes that the Model 3 will contribute heavily to the company’s goal of manufacturing one million cars by 2020. Fingers crossed that all goes to plan for Tesla!
