The Jaguar I-pace won the coveted World Car of the Year award at the New York Auto Show! It also bagged the World green car of the year and the World design of the year award! You might just want to sell your car and buy the I-Pace when it is finally launched in the UAE market.
The award is meant to shed light on the most significant car of the previous year and the jury comprises of 86 international automotive journalists from 24 countries. The Jaguar I-Pace is the first model to receive the three world car awards and was also recently awarded as the European car of the year in 2019.
The I-Pace was launched two months ago and it beat its competitors; Audi E-Tron and the Volvo S6 for the award. In the design category, it won the race against Suzuki Jimny and Volvo X60 and in the green car category, it edged out the E-tron.
Up until now, 11,000 customers in 60 countries have taken note of I-Pace performance and delivery. The judges have praised it for its practicality, zero emissions, and “sportscar” features.
“It is an honour that the Jaguar I-Pace has received such an accolade from the prestigious world car jurors,” said Jaguar Land Rover CEO Ralf Speth.
“We started with an ideal, to move towards our destination zero vision: zero emissions, zero accidents and zero congestion. I-Pace is our first step to achieving this, and it was conceived when EVs [electric vehicles] were little more than a niche choice.”
The I-pace has a 90 kWh lithium-ion battery and claimes to have a range of 470 km. With a 60 KWh fast charger, it is able to charge from 0% to 80% in 72 minutes. It can go from 0-100 km in 4.2 seconds and can reach a top speed of 200 km/h.

The I-pace is the first car in 15 years to bag three awards and has won 60 international awards since its launch.
