The Hyundai i20 was supposed to make its international debut at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show with only some sketches shown as teasers. However, its photos were leaked a few days ago and Hyundai decided to come out with the details ahead of its reveal at the Motor Show. After its official reveal at the show, we may find out when it will be available among cars for sale in Abu Dhabi. CarSwitch.com did some research to share the details with you.

This car sports Hyundai’s latest design language ‘Sensuous Sportiness’. The looks of the car are pretty similar to those seen in the sketches. Apart from the fresh design it also offers excellent safety features and more technology. Buyers also have a choice between ten exterior colors with four of them being new.

Exterior

The front fascia features a new grille and sharp lines. The high beltline still remains on the hatchback and connects the C-pillar to a new quarter window. The rear gets LED taillamps with a connected LED strip between them. This gives the design a neater and bolder look and can certainly make its place as one of the hottest hatches available for sale.

Keeping its essence as a small hatchback, it is only an inch wider and 5mm longer while having a slightly lower roof than before. Moreover, the wheelbase has been stretched by 10mm. This translates to more space inside for cargo as well as passengers. The boot carries an extra 25 litres of capacity as well.

Engine

The base engine for Europe is 1.2L 4cylinder paired with a 5-speed manual. It pushes out about 84hp. The upgraded version is a 1.0L turbocharged which will come in two trims, one with 99hp and the other with 118 hp. It will come with a 48V mild hybrid system which the carmaker claims will enhance the efficiency by 3-4%. This system will be optional with the 99hp version.

Interior

The interior of the i20 has only been revealed in sketches however we reckon it will be similar to its new futuristic cockpit design. The dashboard is dominated by a 10.25 inch infotainment screen on the top spec models. It is placed next to a 10.25 digital instrument cluster. The air vents with horizontal blades spread across the dashboard starting under the infotainment screen. It also features many user-friendly features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto. wireless phone charging and an 8-speaker Bose Sound System.

The safety features have been enhanced with the use of Hyundai’s SmartSense safety package. It includes smart cruise control with navigation which can adjust its speed according to the driver’s location. Blind spot monitor, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, cross traffic alert along with an updated forward collision warning system that can identify pedestrians on the road.

The rest of the information is still under wraps and we’ll have to wait for its global debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month to find out when it will be available among cars for sale in Abu Dhabi.
