Every year, CES takes over Las Vegas and shows us the future of transportation. From practical, cost-efficient, and environmentally friendly vehicles, to machines that look like they were stolen from the set of Tron, CES has it all. It doesn’t just stop at cars though – it also includes alternative means of transportation such as electric skateboards and luxury yachts. CarSwitch, an online buying and selling car market, has compiled this list of the best futuristic vehicles that were in the spotlight this year.
BMW Vision iNext
With hidden touch-interfaces in wood and cloth (yes, you read that right.) and screen projectors anywhere in the car, the BMW Vision iNext feels more like an alien spaceship instead of a car. It has a built-in voice assistant and a carpeted back seat.
With a coffee table which responds to touch (once again, yes, you read that right), this is like living in a futuristic dream. Too good to be true.
Audi Aicon
Easily the chicest car on display out of the entire bunch, the Audi Aicon is a source of pride for Audi as a company. The beauty, which they hope to launch by 2021, has four motors and a range between 435 to 497 miles per charge. It is claimed that it can charge up to 80 percent in just 30 minutes.
It is supposed to be completely self-driving, with the steering wheel not even visible, and in true James Bond style, the roof is completely transparent.
Mercedes-Benz Vision Urbanetic
Easily the strangest looking vehicle in the show, the Mercedes-Benz Vision Urbanetic looks less like a car and more like an oversized alien egg.
Unlike the Aicon and the iNext, this is meant to be a public transportation vehicle. If all public transportation vehicles were Mercedes no one would even own cars anymore. It can fit up to 20 people and has a self-driving base.
Bell Nexus Air Taxi
The Bell Nexus Air Taxi, which is a cross between a drone and a helicopter, is another public form of transformation vehicle. A hybrid which is still under testing.
So far, it has a range of 150 miles. It may be environmentally friendly, but it does look like a UFO. We have heard of quite a few people who might report it as a UFO and hide in their homes for fear of alien abduction.
Hyundai Elevate
Not the last, but most certainly not the least, we have the Hyundai Elevate. This is supposed to be its actual name but some prefer to call it “the yellow transformer’. It has extendable robotic legs which it uses to step over objects.
It is even capable of climbing a five-foot vertical wall while keeping the passengers level. When driving mode is used, the legs shrink and turns into an ordinary car.
