We have some great news for Dubai motorists! You might have seen construction work going on at several roads in Dubai, UAE. What does it bode for the car drivers, you ask? CarSwitch brings you the answer.

RTA has some big plans underway to ease congestion on Dubai roads. Six projects have already been rolled out and they are expected to be done by the first quarter of 2018. The following sites will be getting some relief soon.

Al Khail Road: One of the busiest roads in Dubai, UAE, will be subject to expansion with the addition of a fourth lane on the northbound side towards Sharjah, between Meydan Road and Dubai Mall interchange. It’s expected to increase the capacity of the road by 1800 cars per hour.

Parallel to Al Khail Road: To smooth the traffic flow at the intersection of Hessa road inbound from SZR to Sharjah, another lane will be added to the collector road parallel to Al Khail Road. This will double the capacity of the road from 1500 vehicles per hour to 3000 vehicles per hour.

Hessa and Al Khail Road Intersection Exit: RTA’s solution to ease the bottleneck situation here is to widen the exit and make it two lanes instead of one. Genius!

Road 46 Roundabout: Road 46 at Al Mamzar is another area with high traffic density and the problem pours over onto the Al Wuhaida Road. A new roundabout will be built at the site to enable motorists to easily exit the area instead of relying solely on the existing exit to Al Wuhaida Road.

Business Bay Area: Another related project is the addition of a storage lane at the site where Business Bay Road meets Al Saada Road thus boosting the capacity of this intersection and reducing delays all the way to the SZR.

Al Quoz Industrial Area: Three intersections in the area will be improved and additional lanes and service roads will be constructed to ease the traffic flow here.

With such extensive roadworks, expect diversions popping up soon in related areas. However, given that the traffic will soon be flowing more smoothly across Dubai, we can surely put up with that.
