Truth be told, there are very few cities in the world that embrace modifications and technology faster than Dubai. A good news for all the electric car owners is that DEWA (Dubai Electric and Water Authority) has installed as many 240 electric car charging stations in several areas of Dubai to make it easy for them to charge their electric cars.

The best thing about these charging stations is that they have been put up in locations such as government buildings, petrol stations, shopping malls, Dubai airports, commercial offices, clinics and hospitals, residential complexes and also establishments.

Why are electric cars so useful?

Unlike the traditional cars, electricity-powered vehicles run on less fuel while being friendlier to the environment and overall. In addition, the electric cars are also comparatively economical to maintain as EV owners have the benefit of low running costs.

  • Low Carbon Emission:

Electric vehicles are beneficial in the sense that they don’t produce carbon emissions and also the air quality is better off for it. Besides, it is also an admitted reality that the more electric vehicles hit the roads, the cleaner the air. They are also not that noisy when compared to their diesel, gas or petrol-run counterparts and are a big improvement when we talk about reducing noise pollution.

  • Eliminate Fuel Consumption:

Electric car owners shouldn’t be worried about rising gas or petrol prices if they opt to go electric.

 Varieties of DEWA Charging Stations

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) have launched as many as three types of electric car charging stations all over the city. These EV charge stations are:

  • Fast Chargers:

These types of electric vehicle chargers offer an 80% charge within 20 to 45 minutes depending on the varieties of battery and car. In the majority of the cases, these are installed at petrol stations across the city.

  • Public Chargers:

Public chargers offer you a full charge within 2 to 4 hours depending on the type of battery and car.

  • Wall Box Chargers:

Depending on the battery potential and type of EV, a full charge in a Wall Box charger takes as many as 2 to 4 hours.
