Alpina is a German automaker that makes high-performance versions of BMW vehicles. The company has now entered the full-size SUV category by revealing the XB7 recently which is based on the BMW X7. No word on a UAE launch yet but the car is coming to the US this September. CarSwitch.com, an online marketplace where you can sell any car in Dubai, did some research to share the details with you.
Alpina XB7 Performance
The XB7 is underpinned by BMW’s 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine. It can churn out 612 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission system. It’s the same engine that underpins the X7. It has been tweaked to handle the extra torque and offers quicker shifts. The car also provides an all-wheel drive. There is a limited-slip differential at the back for improved handling at the limit.
The air suspension system of the XB7 has also been modified. Changes include tuning of anti-roll bars and rear bushings. Other than that, the company has also worked on torsion strut enforcements for increasing body rigidity. The two-axle air suspension system of the car can also raise or lower it by up to 1.6 inches depending on the drive mode you have chosen.
Alpina claims that the car can go from zero to 16mph in just 4.0 seconds and it offers a top speed of 180 mph. For a full-size SUV, these are pretty impressive numbers. The car boasts a quarter-mile time of 12.6 seconds.
Consumption is rated at 13.9 liters per 100km and emissions come in at 316g/km.
In addition to the Comfort, Sport, and Sport+ modes offered by BMW, the Alpina version also comes with a Comfort+ model which provides smooth suspension calibration and relaxed transmission setting.
Alpina XB7 Exterior
The XB7 has all the elements of an Alpina vehicle. It flaunts the proprietary apron, quad-exit exhaust pipes, big air intakes, and 21-inch Alpina Dynamic alloy wheels. You also have the option of updating to 23-inches wheels with the 20-spoke design.

The Alpina-branded touches continue inside as well. On the front, you have got the glass iDrive controller, sport steering wheel with Lavalina leather, build plaque, blue-and-green stitching, and gear selector switch which is illuminated blue. You can either opt for three bench chairs or two individual lounge seats for the second row.
Heated comfort seats, Alcantara headliner, soft close doors, leather instrument panel, Myrtle luxury wood trim, panoramic glass sunroof, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster are standard.
The XB7 will arrive as a 2021 model and its price will start at $142,295. It might be followed by the 8-Series Gran Coupe, later on, provided the XB7 is received well.
