Being the flagship SUV of a widely reclaimed brand, GLS has an image to maintain. Shortly after the debut of 6 amazing Mercedes cars at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, the all-new 2020 Mercedes GLS is revealed with a prominent redesign inside out. Undoubtedly, this new Mercedes GLS is here to dazzle.
The most eminent feature of the GLS is its size. The new 2020 Mercedes GLS fulfills the requirements of a large family SUV as it is more than 17 ft in length with a width of 6.5 ft. Along with that, a 2.4-inch increase in wheelbase makes it look even more gigantic yet sleek.
The 2020 Mercedes GLS of course come with a standard 7-seater layout. Though, the surprise element it that you can also get 6 spacious bucket seats in the same price. The seats are electronically adjustable and for the first time, the third row gets heated seats. Additionally, it offers five zone climate control system that has a separate heating and cooling system for the third row.
The legroom in the second row rises by 3.4 inch whereas the headroom in the third row is enough for adults as tall as 6.4 feet. Mercedes seems to have outdone itself considering the needs of family car buyers.
The cabin of this large SUV looks great as well. With a modern flair, it gets a sorted 12.3 inch instrument cluster with a 12.3 inch infotainment screen. Like most new models, the latest MBUX infotainment system takes good care of the tech portion of the car.
The GLS models that will be offered are GLS 450 and GLS 580. The junior GLS 450 4Matic has an energetic 3.0L inline-6 engine producing 362 hp and 369 lb-ft torque. It can go from 0-100 kph in 5.9 seconds. On the other hand, the GLS 580 4Matic gets a sturdy 4.0L Bi-turbo V8 powerhouse. It crosses 0-100kph in 5.2 seconds and churns out 583 ho with 516 lb-ft torque. Both the engines are mated with a 9-speed automatic transmission.
Additionally, both of these engines have a 48V electric assist system which amps up the horsepower and torque giving the SUV an EQ boost. The E-Active body Control is also powered by this battery which allows the driver to control power to each wheel providing a comfortable ride.
