Live stock runs from AED 109,900 to AED 119,900, and it sells at about 46% below the price of a new one, a steep enough discount that a lightly used C40 is worth cross-shopping against a new entry-level EV.

Inspected cars sit at a median of around 14,000 km, still very early in the car's life, and our checks have not turned up anything concerning at that distance. On an EV this new to the market, battery degradation over time matters more than the odometer. Charging is not the hurdle it reads as: public charging in Dubai and Abu Dhabi is well established and still being added to, and a C40 that charges where it parks makes urban driving a non-issue.

  • Charging port and cable condition, plus a test on a fast charger if possible.
  • Software update history through Volvo's over-the-air system.
  • Tyre wear, since EV torque wears front tyres faster than a petrol equivalent.

Almost every C40 available locally is from the last couple of model years, so there is no earlier version to avoid. What matters more than the registration date is the battery's remaining warranty and its state of health, which any seller should be able to show you.

A Tesla Model-Y is the obvious electric rival at similar money, with body and panel history better than we would expect for the class. The BMW X5 costs about the same but runs on petrol, with fewer panel repairs than the segment norm, for a buyer who wants a petrol engine. Inside the Volvo range, the XC40 is the petrol version of the same shape for less money.
