Mazda is the mainstream buy for someone in the UAE who still cares how a car drives: priced alongside the other Japanese and Korean brands, but steered and geared to feel like none of them. Frequently asked questions

Asking prices across our listings run from AED 19,000 to AED 133,000, and the only honest comparison is between cars of the same year. Among 2022 cars a CX-5 sold at AED 85,000 and the three-row CX-9 at AED 97,000. Drop to 2019 and a CX-5 went for AED 34,000, a Mazda6 AED 32,000 and a Mazda3 AED 21,000.

Solidly mid-pack: Mazdas average about 53% of their value after five years across the models we can measure, close enough to the mainstream Japanese brands that resale should not decide the purchase.

A used Honda is the easier resale; Hyundai gives you more equipment for the money. Mazda wins on the drive and the interior at the same price.

Better than the class average mechanically and electrically, typical of it cosmetically. Only 9% of the 1,133 Mazdas we have inspected in the UAE show an electrical or electronics fault, against the 11% we would expect for SUVs of the same age and mileage here. Body and panel repair is the other side of the coin at 66%, against 57% for comparable SUVs here — what a car bought for the school run and the commute looks like at over 100,000 km. The CX-5 is the default. Take the Mazda3 if the budget is the constraint and you want the sharpest thing at the money, the CX-9 if you need a third row, and the Mazda6 if you want a full-size saloon.
