Frequently asked questions

This model has had running updates to battery capacity and motor output across its life rather than a single sharp facelift, so check the exact specification of any car you're considering rather than assuming by year alone. A later example generally means more range and updated software.

The BMW 520 costs more and gives you a conventional engine instead. The Mercedes C300 sits at a similar price with a more familiar ownership experience. The Mini Cooper is a smaller, cheaper alternative if outright size isn't the priority, though our inspections find more electrical faults on it than we'd expect for its age.

Too early to judge by distance alone, since the cars we inspect here have covered relatively little so far. Battery health and software update history are the more useful signals at this stage than the odometer reading. Charging is the straightforward part in the UAE: the public network across Dubai and Abu Dhabi is well established and still widening, and a 2 that charges where it parks is simply a quiet commuter.

  • Battery health and range reported against the car's original rated figure.
  • Charging port and cable condition and compatibility with chargers you'll use.
  • Software update history for the latest features and fixes.
  • Tyre wear — the instant torque wears front tyres faster than a combustion car.
