The cars we inspect here sit at a median of around 40,000 km with nothing unusual turning up, an early reading in line with a platform Mitsubishi has run reliably across several markets.

The Honda CR-V costs more and only seats five, but comes with a badge that holds up better on resale confidence. A Ford EcoSport is cheaper still, though our inspections find considerably more interior staining on it than on the Xpander Cross. Inside Mitsubishi's own lineup, the Outlander is the cheaper five-seat alternative if a third row is not essential.

It has only been sold here since 2023 without any update yet, so buy on condition and trim rather than chasing a specific year.

Very well for a model this new to the market — around 70% after five years against roughly 55% for small SUVs and 56% across Mitsubishi's range. That strong curve reflects genuine demand for a seven-seat layout at this price, not just an early-adopter bump.
